The Hilltop House
LUXURIOUS COMFORT

Enter your gorgeous and spacious historic home and feel your cares dissolve. Located on a lovely hilltop just outside the town of Vineyard Haven, your home features elegant and open spaces for entertaining, relaxing and enjoyment. The gracious living room with its sunny book-nook features 10 foot ceilings and fabulous breezes through large windows.
Your dining room and kitchen are perfect for gathering over meals. Then sink into your choice of couches with a book, or enjoy a catch up with each other in the newly built multi-person window seat!
Our front sunroom is gorgeous for a morning coffee, a game, or a chat. This is often claimed as the best room in the house, with the morning sun and the afternoon breezes!
Enjoy individual whisper-quiet air conditioning or heat in every beautiful room, as you desire.
Out front, enjoy your large mahogany deck with plenty of seating, a Weber grill, a lovely side yard, an outdoor shower, a delightful tree swing, and a fabulous fire pit with Adirondack chairs for an evening gathering.
The wonderful Martha's Vineyard Museum is literally a 2 minute walk! A 7 minute walk down the hill to the Lagoon and boat rentals where you can rent kayaks, and another 10 min farther to learn to windsurf! Only 1 mile to Owen Little Park Beach, and 1 1/2 miles to Eastville Beach. A true pleasure.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Do I have to get a visa for Mexico?
No. You do not need a visitor visa to enter Mexico for tourism.
What's included in the trip?
This trip is almost all-inclusive, with very few exceptions. Alcoholic and soft drinks are not included. Refer to the inclusions and exclusions page above.
Can you adapt to vegetarian/vegan, gluten-free, or lactose-free diets?
The trip will cater to all food allergies and dietary requirements.
How fit do I need to be for this trip?
This retreat does not require any minimum level of fitness and all conditions are welcome. The morning yoga classes are entirely optional and, if you choose to attend, they will always be adapted to suit all levels.
Can I have a room to myself?
All prices shown are per person. If you prefer more privacy and a private room, you should choose the "king bed in private room" option. Please note that the Dune Manta, New Jet and Mama Manta treehouses have two bedrooms and a very large bathroom shared between the two rooms, with a maximum occupancy of 3 people.
I want to bring my partner on the trip. Can I?
This is actually a small group experience designed for women travelers. If you'd like to bring a female friend, partner, or family member, they are absolutely welcome!
I want to bring my daughter. Can I?
If your daughter is over 18, sign her up! This is a wonderful opportunity for any young woman. If your daughter is under the age of 18, please send us a message to discuss. This retreat is a great fit for some girls, and their participation can be a treat for the whole group. We'll be delighted to explore this with you.
How does this trip help local communities in Mexico?
Giving the gift of education, giving the gift of life, giving the gift of opportunity! Each of our contributions include a 2% donation to enable the development of watershed regeneration projects for this beautiful ecosystem. These projects address education, permaculture, marine conservation, water health, and reforestation. We work alongside the community for full effect, alignment and impact.
What should I pack for this adventure?
We recommend that you bring very comfortable clothes for your entire stay. This includes clothing suitable for practicing yoga and conversation sessions, swimwear for the beach, flip-flops, and little else. We will be staying in treehouses immersed in nature and at the edge of the sea. If you are sensitive to sound, please remember to bring earplugs. You'll also need mosquito repellent.
What happens if I get sick?
We understand that getting sick while traveling alone in a foreign country can be worrisome. That's why we require all our guests to have comprehensive travel and medical insurance that includes international evacuation. In the unlikely event that you fall sick during the retreat, we will take you to the nearest medical facility so you can receive the necessary care. Additionally, one of our local partner staff will be there to assist you with translations and anything else you may need.
What travel and medical insurance should I get?
When traveling to Mexico, having comprehensive travel and medical insurance is essential and required. In the unlikely event you will need need emergency transport to Mexico City or Guadalajara, or even a flight back to your home country, you'd want the peace of mind that comes with knowing you're fully covered. Please double-check that your policy has your back for any unexpected twists and turns during your Mexican adventure! 🌮🏝️ We recommend that you book your insurance at the same time as you book your airfare, and after the retreat is confirmed by reaching the minimum number of participants.
What airport do I fly into?
The closest airport to your serene getaway at Playa Viva is Zihuatanejo Ixtapa International Airport (ZIH). There are non-stop & connecting flights from the U.S. From Europe, the most convenient route is to fly into Mexico City (MEX) and then catch a domestic flight straight to Zihuatanejo (ZIH). Upon arrival, we have arranged for your comfort with private transportation direct to Playa Viva.
Are the mosquitoes bad in Playa Viva?
The good news is that you will find no mosquitos on the beach at Playa Viva during daytime hours or during windy evening hours. We have also taken several ecologically sound and preventative measures to reduce their presence during the early evening hours when the breeze fades. At that time, we recommend you wear a long-sleeve shirt and pants, and that you bring repellent. We provide non-deet based repellent that is quite effective for those who do not bring their own. The Common Area is surrounded with citronella candles and fans, and we have lovely and protective mosquito netting on all beds for while you sleep, if needed. Finally, we are working with our conservation biologist to add inert bacteria to stagnant water that eats mosquito larvae. All these measures combine to significantly reduce mosquitos, while all resorts near bodies of water do have them to some extent, and we do as well. Also, the beaches here do have sand flees so you won't want to stand, sit or lay directly on dry sand for extended periods or you will be bitten. You can lie on a towel or walk in the wet sand without nuisance!
